Let Your Light Shine

Christmas time is one of my most favorite times of the year! I love the whole package that comes along with Christmas; the food, the hanging out with family and friends, giving gifts, the house decorations, etc. One way you know it’s Christmas, is you see Christmas lights all over town. People all over town will decorate their houses with lights as to almost win a contest….the bigger, the brighter, the better.

During Christmas we not only let our Christmas light shine, but we let the light of Jesus shine brightly for all to see. We often get offended when we hear someone say “happy holiday’s” or we can’t buy a nativity scene at the store. We get mad when someone cuts us off in the mall parking lot, or when someone cuts in the check out line…and we’ll say “that they just don’t know what Christmas is all about”, or “they are just taking the Christ out of Christmas”.

Then Christmas passes and on December 26th we will go out and take our Christmas lights down, and often when our Christmas lights go out, so does that light in us that is Jesus. Think about it…we don’t fuss about what society has done with Christmas in January or any other month (except December)

Why does our light of Jesus go out during the rest of the year? We live in a very dark world, and there are a lot of people out there that are living in that darkness…that are just begging, seeking, and desperate for a glimmer of hope. When you’ve been in the darkness for so long, even the smallest light can be a welcomed relief. Even one person’s light can mean the difference between spiritual life or death. One person can make all the difference in the world…it just takes someone willing to not let their light go out. Go let your little light shine for all to see…all year.

  1. Your message was awesome on Sunday. After hearing your message and what we talked about during Life Group, I think that God is trying to get our attention about something.
